Short Description of the Tour
Our journey begins in the picturesque town of Čačak, a 1.5-hour drive from Belgrade, known for its rich history and legends. We’ll taste its famous šljivovica brandy. Next, we head to the Ovčar-Kablar Gorge, a protected nature reserve where the West Morava River winds between mountains rich in endemic species.
For hiking enthusiasts, the climb to the Kablar viewpoint (885 m above sea level) offers a spectacular view of the river meanders, a truly rewarding experience. After the hike, we’ll visit a local household for a traditional homemade lunch, savoring the authentic specialties Western Serbia is famous for.
The Ovčar-Kablar Gorge, often called the "Serbian Mount Athos," is home to many Orthodox monasteries. We’ll visit a few of them and experience the serene spirituality of this sacred place.

Program:

• Begin the Story of Čačak

  • Start at Ljubić Hill, enjoying a panoramic view of the city. Learn about the Battle of Ljubić, a cornerstone of modern Serbian history, as the gateway to the city on the Morava. Visit the memorial complex and the church dedicated to St. Prince Lazar.

• Continue Through Čačak to Kablar's Foothills

  • Take a short forest hiking trail to reach the summit. Embrace the sense of unity with nature, as one glance encompasses surreal beauty and untouched surroundings. From Kablar's peak, enjoy breathtaking views of the Western Morava's meanders, the cliffs of Ovčar and Kablar, Šumadija, the forested Ovčar, Jelica Mountain, Čačak, and Ljubić Hill.

• Visit a Local Farmhouse Nearby

  • Savor a homemade lunch prepared by the host with ingredients from their own farm. In the tranquil natural setting, with stunning views of the surroundings, indulge in authentic food and drinks.

• Explore Ovčar-Kablar Gorge

  • Drive through this exceptional area, where the Western Morava carved a deep gorge between Ovčar and Kablar Mountains. Learn about the monasteries on these slopes, known collectively as "Little Serbian Mount Athos." With fascinating stories, arrive at Ovčar Banja.

• Short Walk to Blagoveštenje Monastery

  • Visit the monastery where Gojko Stojčević took monastic vows and became Patriarch Pavle. On Patriarch Pavle's terrace, overlooking Ovčar and Kablar, hear about the life and work of this humble and truthful man.

• Leisurely Walk Along the Western Morava

  • Take a 30-minute walk by the river along the old Ćira train route, through rocky narrows, to the Nikolje Monastery. Tour the church dedicated to St. Nicholas, Prince Miloš Obrenović's konak (residence), and the monastery gift shop. Make a wish and circle the old pine tree three times, hoping your wish will be granted.

• Complete the Experience on the Water

  • End the program with a group catamaran ride from the Nikolje Monastery pier. Sail through the meanders of the Western Morava to Lake Međuvršje.
